Passage of the stimulus package comes down to whether a few Republican Senators can support it. The Dems have a 57 member majority and they need 60 to keep the opposition from stopping the legislation.
This is a good time to tune in to the debate on C-SPAN2 because anywhere you jump in it's easy to understand what's going on.

In spite of the American people voting in favor of increasing the majority of the Dems in the last few elections the Republicans still cling to their hardline idiology of tax cuts as a solution to all problems. Not one Republican voted in favor of the stimulus in the House. But, they were able to get 3 moderate Republicans in the Senate to support it. The debate goes on all this week.
